Artist Statement

My work is drawing and making images through the printmaking and painting process. I compose images from life and my imagination. I define positive and negative space and their spacial inter-relationships with one another as a composition. The work has evolved as a result of my quest to use images and transform them into drawing form, to define and resolve space; extracting my inner motive to be spontaneous with the subtle nuances that spark inspiration.

The inspired images in my earlier work started with a narrative content and were considered surrealistic.  In later years these concepts evolved into more abstract animate fluid images.  My recent work combines these two directions of surrealism and abstraction to form a different visual and spacial consideration.

99% of my lithographs are drawn on lithographic limestone, 1% on grained metal plates.  I printed all of the images by hand in small editions of 10 - 25 or less on 100% archival mold made papers.
